HARTFORD, Conn. — State officials say they've charged a New Fairfield man with forging an emergency medical technician's license to get a job with his town's volunteer ambulance service.
Inspectors from the chief's state's attorney's office have charged John G. Schoepp with second-degree forgery and violating a law that prohibits anyone from acting as an EMT without the required training and license.
They say the 28-year-old is a state police dispatcher with Troop A in Southbury. They say he used a fraudulent license to get a position on the New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department ambulance service, where he treated people with medical emergencies.
The discrepancy was discovered through a routine audit.
Schoepp was released on $5,000 bond and is due back in court April 7.
Schoepp's phone number isn't listed.
