HANOVER, Pa. — A Penn Township ambulance driver who failed to use a siren and ran a red light at a Hanover intersection last month, causing a crash, pleaded guilty to the charges against him.

Russell Irwin Bryant, 32, of Abbottstown, entered his plea Dec. 3 and paid $107.50 in fines and costs, according to court records at the office of Magisterial District Judge Dwayne Dubs.

Hanover Police said Bryant used visual signals but failed to use audio signals while trying to proceed through the red light at Frederick and High streets on Nov. 25. He failed to stop at the red light, causing the crash, police said.

Hanover resident Shane Storm, the driver of the other vehicle, was injured in the 9:10 a.m. crash and was treated and released from Hanover Hospital.

At the time of the crash, Ambulance 49-2 was responding to an emergency call in the borough and had no patients on board, authorities said.
