ZOLL Data Systems gives out First Annual 'Excellence in EMS Award' to Charleston County EMS at annual users conference
Panel of EMS organization executives serves as judges to select the organization that most fully demonstrates best practices for performance excellence
BROOMFIELD, Col. - ZOLL Data Systems™, announced the first annual ‘Excellence in EMS’ award winner at Summit 2006, their annual users conference. The award finalists were EMS organizations from the City of Calgary in Canada, REMSA in Reno, Nevada, Pinellas County in Florida, Cataldo EMS in the town of Somerville, Massachusetts, and Charleston County EMS in Charleston, South Carolina.
The award was judged by a panel of executives from other EMS services. EMS organizations were judged based upon four core values:
- Patient-focused excellence
- Valuing staff
- Social responsibility and community health
- Managing for innovation
“We are constantly striving to better serve our citizens and take care of our dedicated staff,” said Don Lundy, Charleston County EMS Director. “But one of the reasons we stood apart from the rest this year is due to our innovations with new programs such as one that is helping to save valuable minutes for heart attack victims.”
Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester Counties together initiated the cardiac program that has significantly reduced treatment times for patients who are having a heart attack.
Charleston County EMS is also in the process of initiating the first digital mapping project in the County for emergency vehicles, and has introduced several advanced treatment procedures for patients involving airway management and heart failure.
“We are very proud of our customers’ efforts to achieve excellence and hope that our technology solutions and services play a big role in this effort. We also strive to achieve excellence in all that we do here at ZOLL Data Systems to help further our customers’ goals.” said David Brown, president of ZOLL Data Systems.
ZOLL Data Systems plans to give this award to the EMS organization that best achieves performance excellence each year at Summit, its annual users conference.
