L.A. commuter rail death toll reaches 25, may rise

LOS ANGELES — Authorities have raised the confirmed death toll in the Los Angeles commuter rail disaster to 25 and expect it to rise.
A spokeswoman for the USC Medical Center says a 50-year-old man transported to the hospital from the wreck died Saturday. She would not release his name.
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa says the death toll is expected to rise because some of the people most critically injured are not expected to survive.
About 135 people have been hospitalized since a Metrolink train collided with a Union Pacific freight train Friday afternoon. At least 80 of them were listed in critical or serious condition.
