Michigan Instruments Thumper Introduced To Ireland

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich,-  A representative from Michigan Instruments, Inc. (MII) partnered with Critical Healthcare to introduce Thumper® CPR at the RESUS 2006 Conference in Ennis, Ireland. Michigan Instruments also unveiled a prototype of their new electronically controlled mechanical cardiopulmonary resuscitator “E-Thumper”.

Critical Healthcare is a prominent organization in Shannon, Ireland that specializes in the distribution of medical equipment. RESUS 2006 is an annual combined conference and skills showcase that offers a unique opportunity to healthcare providers and volunteers to interact in an educational environment. It allows its participants to research and study new principles and techniques, and to integrate with like-minded people from all over Ireland and beyond.

A large number of national, international and global manufacturers and distributors demonstrated the latest products and technology associated with resuscitation. The products ranged from drugs to defibrillators to ECG monitors. MII had the privilege of demonstrating the “E Thumper” within the company of many prominent Irish associations and organizations like the Irish Red Cross, Irish Heart Foundation, The Irish Society for Immediate Care, Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council, and many more.

MII ran an hour-long “E-Thumper” workshop for Medical Directors, nurses, and practitioners. The “E Thumper” impressed its viewers with its endurance, functions and
stability. This demonstration allowed MII to answer questions, and educate medical and healthcare staff on Thumper® CPR, its benefits and where it’s heading.

MII was very excited to visit Ireland and to represent Thumper® CPR among other representatives of mechanical CPR. MII looks forward to a long and prosperous relationship between the Thumper® and Ireland.

The Thumper® is an oxygen-powered piston device that has been an adjunct to many ambulance and fire departments for over 40 years. The Thumper® can be rapidly set up with
virtually no loss of CPR in transition from manual to Thumper® CPR. Easy to operate, it has the versatility to accommodate a wide range of patients from small adults to bariatric patients over 300 lbs. With no expensive disposables, the Thumper® can be used repeatedly without replacement or repair.
