Practice "defensive space" while driving

Name: EMS1 Staff

It is crucial to practice safe and effective driving tactics at all times, not just when transporting with lights and sirens on.

When waiting at a red light, make sure to stop a good enough distance behind so that you can see the rear tires of the car in front of you. Should you receive a call while sitting at a red light, you will be able to pull out of the lane without having to back up or force the driver in front of you to pull to the side.

This is also a good practice to implement while driving through the streets when not responding to a call.
