Fla. ambulance ride reveals ID theft

Christina Pope says she received a bill from Sunstar EMS in St. Petersburg having never been there

The Ledger

PANAMA CITY, Fla. — It took a bill for an ambulance ride for one Panama City Beach woman to realize her identity had been stolen - by a homeless person.

Christina Pope says she received a bill from Sunstar EMS in St. Petersburg for $604. Problem is, Pope had never been to St. Petersburg.

The 48-year-old contacted the Bay County Sheriff's Office, which filed a report July 23 and notified the St. Petersburg Police Department.

The woman used Pope's name, date of birth and Social Security number.

Pope said her driver's license and credit cards were not stolen.
