Calif. flight medic crowned poker champion

He took home the first place prize of $22,140

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Dustin Skarra knows a thing or two about taking risks.

The San Diego flight paramedic won first place in the “Quest for the Cup poker tournament at Pechango Resort and Casino. After two full days of the competition, he beat out 209 contenders and emerged the winner.

Skarra took home $22,140 in the $50,000 event. His buy-in was $200, plus $35. The second place player won $11,890.

He told casino staff this is the most excited he has ever been playing poker.
