EMT dad charged with torture of 6-month-old son

He's accused of beating him to the point where the baby is fighting for his life; he is a certified EMT who was undergoing testing for a position in Detroit

TAYLOR, Mich. — The 23-year-old father who is suspected of beating his 6-month-old baby boy was arraigned on charges at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Taylor.

Deann Senior Deann Senior Friday, May 02, 2014 11:56:44 AM My husband and I both worked in EMS during the late 80's through the late 90's and we NEVER heard of any of the kinds of behaviors we are now seeing in the EMS community. Womanizing, cheating spouses and the occasional medic with narc issues were the main problems then. What the heck is going on? How are individuals with these sort of issues allowed in EMS?
Roger Hyatt Roger Hyatt Friday, May 02, 2014 7:31:25 PM all i can say is torture and kill the SOB
Ellen Kraus Ellen Kraus Friday, May 02, 2014 7:32:39 PM goes to show a clean background check don't mean squat - they never got caught....someone should take him behind the shed and do the same to him as he did to the baby...
Gregory Geczi Gregory Geczi Friday, May 02, 2014 7:48:37 PM I am speechless after hearing such. Just numb and in horror.
Alex Donnelly Alex Donnelly Friday, May 02, 2014 7:52:26 PM That man looks like a sociopath. He needs to be beaten to death. Eye for an eye! No, it will not leave the whole world blind. If so then we must all deserve death anyway.
Gina Choi Copas Gina Choi Copas Friday, May 02, 2014 8:04:59 PM I can't believe that this POS is still alive. WHO could do such a thing to an infant! There is NO excuse for this crime! Being a mother and a paramedic I say, shoot this POS and be done with it! Society will be better off without him!
Alex Hope Alex Hope Friday, May 02, 2014 8:30:12 PM True definition of Sociopath - no compassion or empathy for the suffering of others.
Becky Heath Becky Heath Friday, May 02, 2014 9:57:14 PM Just my opinion.. If you'll notice, the thought track nowadays is to be as aggressive as possible. I've seen several mistakes made doing this. I've actually been gigged myself for not being 'aggressive enough' and pushing meds that I felt were not conducive to a positive outcome for patients. Critical thinking isn't being taught by a lot of institutions, and patient care in some systems might as well be on a production level. Then we look at how many people abuse the system. Most assuredly doesn't make it right. I think this guy needs to have his insides beaten out. There are several frustrated folks nowadays, and we don't go out and do this sort of thing... I don't know how it is up north to get into classes and get a credential, but it's been made entirely too easy in the south. Bad seeds.

Paul Gayton Paul Gayton Saturday, May 03, 2014 1:38:52 PM I find it funny they refer to this individual as a man. A real man would never do anything like this.
Eric Wainright Eric Wainright Saturday, May 03, 2014 8:24:12 PM I was a firefigher/emt for 10 years. I have NEVER hit my girlfriend, wife, or child. There is no excuse for this. I hope he gets everything he deserves in terms of punishment. I also hope he is NEVER allowed to see his child again. This is sickening.
Mike S. Dumond Sr Mike S. Dumond Sr Tuesday, May 06, 2014 6:00:43 AM You can't beat him to death, there's probably a law against that. But, you can shoot him while he's trying to escape.
Diane Annas-Calkins Diane Annas-Calkins Saturday, May 24, 2014 12:27:14 PM tattoo him on his forehead and then throw him in prison....they'll take care of the beatings. What a POS!
