NEW BEDFORD, Mass. — A disciplinary hearing was held Wednesday for a city paramedic who is facing charges in the death of a pedestrian who was struck and killed earlier this month on Brock Avenue.

Benjamin Fuertes was charged with vehicular homicide and failing to yield for a pedestrian in connection with the Feb. 4 accident, which resulted in the death of 58-year-old Manuel F. Sousa.

City Solicitor Irene Schall told the The Standard-Times that a hearing was held Wednesday for Fuertes and that Emergency Medical Services Director Mark McGraw will be making a decision on what, if any, disciplinary actions to take within two days.
