Everyone on plane survived crash, including seventh-month-old baby

WELLSVILLE, Utah — Four adults and an infant walked away from a small plane crash near Wellsville on Saturday after engine problems forced the pilot to land in a snow-covered field.
The plane took off from the Logan Cache Airport about 1 p.m. and began having engine trouble about 30 minutes later, the Cache County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
Pilot Lynn Goodsell told police he was headed over the Wellsville mountains trying to gain sufficient altitude to finish the flight when problems with the fuel system began. Goodsell attempted to use the plane's carburetor heaters, but the engine shut down and he was unable to restart it, police said.
Goodsell then looked for a place to land, settling on an open field covered in about two feet of snow. As the plane hit the ground, it's front wheel dug into the ground, causing it to flip onto its top.
No one was injured.
Area neighbors rushed to the crash site on snowmobiles and found Goodsell and his passengers — Katherine Mohlma, Kara Fielding, Jonathan Fielding and the Fielding's infant son — had exited the plane, police said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
