Job Description

REACH is actively recruiting for EMT’s to join the REACH/Woman’s Hospital of Texas Team in Houston, TX!

As an EMT working with REACH in partnership with The Woman’s Hospital of Texas, your primary role will be to drive ground ambulance for High Risk OB/Maternal and Neonate Team transports, as well as assist with patient care as needed.

The Woman's Hospital of Texas provides maternal-fetal transport for mothers with a high-risk pregnancy and babies who need our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Our two Aircare transport teams, a Neonatal (Neo) team and an Obstetrics (OB) team bring high-risk mothers, premature babies and sick newborns directly to our hospital by helicopter and ground transport. Our Neo team consists of a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, a Neo Nurse and a Neo Respirator Therapist. Our OB team consists of a Paramedic and an OB Nurse. These two unique teams work in concert when required as both are cross-trained in certain disciplines allowing a diversified response to out of the ordinary situations. These special people work tirelessly to bring the highest quality response to locations throughout Southeast Texas and beyond.

Additional Information

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Completion of an EMT Basic/Intermediate program; must maintain current Texas DSHS Certification in good standing.
• Minimum of one (1) year related experience preferred.
• Must maintain current and valid EMT Basic/Intermediate Certification
• Must possess and maintain current and valid AHA CPR card and Medical Examiner’s Card.
• Maintain current Texas Driver’s License and City of Houston Ambulance Driver’s Permit.
• Must maintain a clean driving record; submission of Texas driving record to Human Resources prior to offer is required.
• Experience driving in and around Houston Metro area and surrounding Counties a plus.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check as well as a drug screen test upon acceptance of an offer.
• Must be able to operate a stethoscope, sphygmomanometer, ambulance (including on board accessories), gurney, oxygen equipment, suction unit, radios/pagers, pen-based computer, map book.
• Maintain on file current Tuberculosis test results.
• Ability to read and review charts.
• Ability to work in a 24-hour work environment.
• Ability to work irregular hours on any day of the week.
• Capable of lifting 200 lbs with assistance.
• Must be able to wear a commercially available respirator mask with proper fit, when required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient on computer skills.
• Commitment to excellence and high standards.
• Ability to work under pressure while meeting strict deadlines.
• Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to accurately complete detailed forms and documentation.
