GENERAL DUTIES
Performs supervisory and/or complex technical functions in laboratories in support of coursework at Kingsborough Community College, a college of The City University of New York (CUNY), located in Brooklyn, NY.

-Maintains, fabricates, modifies, and repairs equipment
-Determines equipment requirements, prepares purchase specifications and coordinates acquisitions
-Trains and supervises College Laboratory Technicians, College Assistants, and other laboratory staff
-Manages set up, maintenance, and organization of student laboratories
-Maintains safety and hygiene standards
-Documents laboratory activities
-Performs related duties as assigned

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The Senior CLT will provide support to the faculty and staff in the EMS/Paramedic Program. The Senior CLT is expected to conduct himself/herself as a member of the team, exert cooperative effort, and exhibit a pleasant and helpful attitude.

As Senior CLT in the EMS/Paramedic Program, he/she will be responsible for:
- Assisting faculty during laboratory and class sessions.
- Preparing the simulation laboratory for demonstration and didactic sessions and other venues as needed for program instruction.
- Conducting practice labs for students providing appropriate reading materials and audiovisual materials as well as assisting students in mastering technical skills.
- Maintaining records of student utilization of practice labs and communicating with faculty regarding dexterity status of students.
- Preparing and maintaining appropriate laboratory equipment and all patient simulators' supportive equipment for use by faculty and students in classes and lab.
- Disassembling, inspecting, and cleaning all patient simulators, associated equipment and peripherals after use by faculty and students following manufacturers' recommendation guidelines.
- Contracting vendors for repair work of equipment and following up on parts orders.
- Maintaining stockroom, taking periodic inventory, and recommending purchase of new and replacement audiovisual materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Assisting in the maintenance and security of non-disposable and disposable equipment.
- Assisting in program recruitment activities and college and community health fairs as appropriate.
- Assisting in coordinating meeting and functions in the paramedic laboratory complex.

COMPENSATION
$44,020 - $64,905; commensurate with experience and education

Job Requirements

  • Education High School Diploma
  • Experience Minimum of eight years' related experience.
  • Additional Requirement :
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    High School Diploma with a minimum of eight years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate's degree may be substituted for two years' experience and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years' experience. This position may also require the ability to supervise others.

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
    Preferred Qualifications include:
    - Current certification as a paramedic in NYS and NYC and NREMTP
    - Current instructor status in AHA BCLS, ACLS, PALS
    - Current instructor status in PHTLS, ITLS or ATT
    - Current certification as NYS DOH CIC
    - An associate degree in Emergency Medical Services (EMS), paramedicine or related field
    - Current or past experience working in the CUNY system as faculty, staff or continuing education teacher
    - At least 10 years of clinical experience as a paramedic in NYC EMS
    - Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and experience in instructional technology especially using high-fidelity human simulators
    - Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff and industry representatives
