Texas man jailed for breaking medic’s hand

A medic will be in a cast for four weeks after a struggle with a patient

By EMS1 Staff

AUSTIN, Texas — A paramedic will have to wear a cast on his hand for a week, and a patient is in jail for breaking it.

Police arrested Crecensio Perez for assault on a public servant after he allegedly attacked a paramedic, KXAN reports.

The medic responded to a call about a suspect in the roadway, and Perez became aggressive as he approached.  In a struggle, Perez fell onto the medic’s hand, breaking it in several places.

The medic told police he tried to help Perez because he thought he was a danger to himself since he was close to the highway.
