By Fitch & Associates

Fitch & Associates today announced that fire and EMS expert Steven Knight, PhD, has joined the firm as a senior associate.

Dr. Knight brings more than 25 years of fire and EMS experience to the firm. He served for nearly 17 years as assistant fire chief for the City of St. Petersburg, Florida. He has been a subject matter expert for both the National Fire Academy and the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE), a nonprofit corporation that serves as the governing body for the organizations that offer accreditation, education, and credentialing services to the first responder and fire service industries. Knight has also served as team leader and assessor for the Commission on Fire Accreditation International and has held multiple faculty appointments in Fire Science and EMS.

Dr. Knight comes to Fitch & Associates from the International City and County Management Association (ICMA), where he served as senior manager of a consulting team within the Center for Public Safety Management.

“We’re excited to have Steve join our core consulting team,” said Jay Fitch, PhD, founding partner and president of Fitch & Associates. “His wealth of experience in both EMS and fire will provide considerable benefits to our clients.”

Knight holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction for Adult Education from the University of South Florida as well as an MPA from Troy State University. He received his BS in Fire & Safety Engineering Technology from the University of Cincinnati, where he was Summa Cum Laude.
