Bruce Pye, 33, had been bicycling east on Old Country Road when the collision occurred with a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe that was making a left onto Tuxedo Drive from Old Country Road shortly after 3 p.m., police said.

Pye suffered head and internal injuries, police said. He was taken by ambulance to Nassau University Medical Center in critical condition, but was pronounced dead at 7:45 p.m., police said.
