Seattle man flees accident — with paramedic in his car

SEATTLE — Police arrested a 28-year-old driver Monday night after he struck a car in South Seattle then sped off with a paramedic inside his car.
Around 8:20 p.m., police responded to a rollover accident at Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Morgan Street. The suspect, who was driving a Nissan Maxima, had hit a car carrying two people, which flipped over, said police-department spokeswoman Reneé Witt.
Those two people were treated at the scene by paramedics, she said. The suspect stopped his car, and one of the paramedics went inside to examine his injuries, Witt said.
That's when "he decided to take off with her in the car," Witt said.
They didn't get far. The paramedic "had the presence of mind to turn the engine off, and that obviously disabled the vehicle," Witt said.
The car stopped a couple of blocks away on South Holly Street. The paramedic got out uninjured, Witt said, and officers quickly made their arrest.
