Job Description |
| Camp Medic/EMT – SPECIFIC DUTIES
• Serves as the qualified medical staff for the camp
• Must hold current certification in First Aid and CPR
• must be able to give full professional attention to injuries, sickness, and health hazards;
• responsible for documentation, storage, and distribution of medicines;
• must be familiar with all risks of communicable blood borne pathogens and the prevention thereof;
• must keep accurate and timely records of all injuries, sicknesses, and treatments;
• Keep an accurate and stocked inventory of medical supplies and first aid kits, and assist with the prevention training of all summer staff.
• Must be at least 18 years of age, and be responsible and mature in direct dealings with youth, agents, parents, and Program Director.
General Duties and Responsibilities
• Work under the supervision, guidance, evaluation, and in cooperation with the 4-H Center Program Director and/or the camp staff Administrative Assistant.
• Learn subject matter and carry out teaching, follow-up, and evaluation assignments in the assigned classes, utilizing skills, educational resources, and other resource materials.
• Prepare a teaching unit (lesson plan) for each day with objectives, subject matter, skills to be gained, and equipment needed for the class being taught.
• Prepare, conduct, and compile an evaluation that will measure the knowledge and skills learned in your instructional area.
• Attend and participate in the Statewide 4-H Camp Staff Training and the Airfield 4-H Camp Staff Training and Orientation Week.
• Assist with overall 4-H camping program including flag raising/lowering ceremonies, assemblies, afternoon recreation, campfires, evening programs, special programs, and others as assigned.
• Work with others both in a leadership role and in a group role when others are in the leadership position.
• Follow instructions and directions as they apply to the position.
• Work with fellow camp staff members, volunteers, Extension agents, and especially youth.
• Complete all paperwork and assignments on time; be responsible for the care and storage of all equipment.
• AT ALL TIMES, serve as a POSITIVE role model for the youth.

Additional Information

| • Staff will earn a weekly salary and paid bi-weekly throughout the summer
• Lodging and meals are provided for staff Sunday-Friday
o Options for weekend lodging may be provided on a case by case basis
• Training- attendance at State Staff Training (May 14-16, 2008) and On-site training (June 8-13, 2008) is required.
o Applicants seeking positions in shooting sports or aquatics/canoeing will be required to have additional training prior to the beginning of camp. Opportunities for training/certification will be provided by the center as available.
• Employment period: June 8, 2008 to August 15, 2008.

Job Requirements

- Age 18
- Education High School graduation and completion of EMT basic course
- Experience Prefer experience working/volunteering with youth and/or in a camp setting
|
Salary Information
|
Salary: $230 and up commensurate with experience per week |
