Fla. medics busted for cooking meth

2 EMS partners were arrested after a home raid by police; one admitted to smoking up on the job

FOX 13

INVERNESS, Fla. — Citrus County Sheriff's deputies say their raid on the quaint home in Inverness turned up the tools needed in a meth lab.

Pipes, tubes and chemicals like Drain-O, Sudafed and lighter fluid.

"You didn't see much activity on the outside, so I didn't know what was going on on the inside," said neighbor Ricki Bullock. Nature Coast EMS paramedic Jeffrey Kehr, his girlfriend, Stephanie Smith, and his ambulance partner, EMT Heather Carson, allegedly admitted to home-cooking after Wednesday's raid.

Alex Moses Alex Moses Friday, February 28, 2014 8:52:17 PM There's bad apples in every profession but why did they have to say they were medics? They weren't working when they got busted so why bring it up and give medics a bad name

Rick Fikes Rick Fikes Saturday, March 01, 2014 7:11:52 AM asinine
Rick Fikes Rick Fikes Saturday, March 01, 2014 7:16:29 AM Ultimately, the fact that they're medics would have got out anyway. We are first responders. Weather we like it or not, we are placed on a pedestal and the general public is watching us as much as they watch any politician. Sux but true.
Gordon McDermid Gordon McDermid Saturday, March 01, 2014 7:27:05 AM That's awful on so many levels. First and foremost, the two children removed from the home, I can only imagine the thoughts going through their heads - wondering what THEY did wrong... :-( Beyond that, it comes down to the trustworthiness of the profession as a whole. It has been damaged and damage done to a professional community can be longstanding.

Lisa Greenfield Lisa Greenfield Sunday, March 02, 2014 8:47:45 AM First of all its a license in Florida ie.value so much higher. Secondly, the question should be how can someone intelligent enough to geta job as a paramedic, be stupid enough to cook that crap. Forget smoking it cooking it is so much more dangerous. I think someone needs to ask them why they would risk their lives and all others around them. We need an answer then maybe others will not be so careless.
Wayland Slater Wayland Slater Monday, March 03, 2014 11:54:43 AM Rick Fikes : You're right. We are held to a higher standard, on or off duty. And it's not just the two of them, it's the entire EMS in their area.
