Truck attempts outrun, strikes Iowa ambulance

BURLINGTON, Iowa — A Burlington Fire Department ambulance with its lights and sirens activated and on its way to a medical call was struck by a motorist's pickup who apparently tried to outrun the emergency vehicle Wednesday afternoon on Division Street.

No injuries were reported, however, Suzanne Charlene Nees, 47, Burlington was cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.

Battalion Chief Bruce Workman said the care for the patient the ambulance was on its way to was not delayed.
