VANCOUVER, British Columbia — An ambulance driver has died in a motor-vehicle accident near West 10th Avenue and Willow Street on Vancouver's west side.

The accident, in which the ambulance crashed into several unoccupied vehicles, was apparently the result of an undisclosed medical condition affecting the driver, said the B.C. Ambulance Service.

Paramedic Michael Gray, 39, an 11-year veteran of the Ambulance Service, "suffered a sudden and unexpected collapse at the wheel of his ambulance" after dropping off a patient at hospital Tuesday afternoon, BCAS spokesman Steven Roberts said yesterday. Gray was pronounced dead at the scene.
